Hey! First update on the game so far. A lot of work is going on behind the scenes to plan the game out but some development has begun.
I have begun creating the basic character controller in Unreal Engine 5. Learning the new design of the engine from 4.26 is a little jarring as a few things have changed but I'm getting used to it. Something new I discovered was Structures. Now, I thought these would be much easier for saving variables but I have since learned they are evil! They seem to be riddled with glitches and after some research (Should have done this before...) I have decided against using them and am sticking to variables in blueprints for now.
Before the discovery and brain ache that was structured, I was and have continued to build up a basic customization system which is now working! Along with building the basic saving system, I have added the capability for users to customize their characters through unlockable items that can be collected as they play and changed ingame which is exiting and new for me to design... however confusing it was haha!
Not much else to add so far other than a lot of placeholder models. I'll post another update soon once I have something a little more interesting than saving. Until then!
